Partners Bank Runs for Local Charities at Maine Marathon
Partners Bank sponsored a team to run in the Maine Marathon in Portland on October 6th. At the marathon were Alex Dupras, Emma Huber-Young, Patricia Jalbert, and Alex Shain, who ran with health, wellness, and charity in mind.
The Bank believes in promoting health and wellness throughout the community as it brings stronger connections, a higher level of positivity, and elevates people to be their best. Additionally, local non-profits directly benefited from the race registration fee, which also aligns with the philanthropic values of Partners Bank.
The Maine Marathon is the only marathon event in the state that is 100% organized by volunteers, with proceeds benefiting local non-profits. Volunteers act as race directors as well as handle the logistics of race day, organizing the expo, helping to find sponsors and more. Each year, the volunteers select a group of charitable organizations to receive proceeds from the race.
This year’s beneficiaries were Percival Baxter Foundation, Maine Paws for Veterans, Maine Senior Games, Riding to the Top, Saltwater Classroom, and Strong Girls United. Since 1997, the Maine Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay and its participants have raised over $7,000,000 for charity.
