Partners Bank Employees Plunge for Caring Unlimited, Combating Domestic Violence
The annual Atlantic Plunge at Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk, which Partners Bank has repeatedly sponsored, has brought a unique way to raise awareness and funds for the significant societal issue of domestic violence. Every year, registrants of the plunge gather at the beach on January 1st to support the work of Caring Unlimited, York County’s domestic violence program.
In addition to the sponsorship, eight Partners Bank employees and friends proudly attended the event, six of whom tackled the 40-degree ocean temperature. Blaine Boudreau, Karen Gellatly, Rich Goodenough, Stephen Sessler, Kimberly Stewart, and Stephanie Wilkins amped themselves up during the countdown before sprinting toward the Atlantic Ocean. Before and after the daring plunge, the high winds and rain made conditions feel even colder, but the participants did not concede from the challenge.
The 24th Atlantic Plunge on January 1st, 2025, raised $35,658, surpassing the $30,000 made in the previous year. The funds will go toward Caring Unlimited’s comprehensive programs and services: Personalized Safety Planning, Emergency Shelter Service, Legal Assistance Programs, Parent Support Services, Transitional Housing, School Based Programs, Community Education, and the 24-Hour Helpline.
The donation portal for the 24th Annual Atlantic Plunge will remain open until January 15th for any last-minute pledges.
